Who is this guy?
My name is Zachary Zadell.
I am a web developer based out of Portland, Oregon.
I specialize in full-stack web development with Ruby on Rails, Django, and WordPress.
I began 2010 with a move to Portland, Oregon after living in Eugene for 5 years. I have a degree in Computer Science and in the past I have worked professionally as a project manager, game developer, systems engineer and fruit picker in a rain-forest. I am of mixed ethnicity – my mother is Spanish, Chinese, Filipino and my father is Yugoslavian, German and Irish. If you saw me on the street I would probably confuse you. Don’t feel bad it happens to everybody I meet. Including friends I have known all my life.
What is this site about?
I see this as a place where I can talk about the places I have been, the lessons I have learned, the projects I am developing, and post pictures. Lots of pictures.
I am a photography nut. Taking pictures, lusting after gear, and learning new techniques are passions of mine. I also use photography as an excuse to go on hikes to crazy locations for the purpose of capturing unique perspectives that hopefully others can appreciate.
When not working, taking pictures or hiking you will probably find me playing tennis. I have been serious about tennis since 2002 when I decided tennis would be more than just casual exercise for me and instead I would devote time to mastering it. This involves not only playing it, but studying and breaking down the technique and styles of professionals into principles that I can apply to not only my own game, but to that of others as well. This makes me incredibly knowledgeable about the game, but also completely boring to anyone who doesn’t care about it. Consider yourself warned.
